How to Get Friends & Family to Try BJJ

The new year is nearly upon us! And with it, that dreaded - and elusive - new year's resolution, as well as a long list of things that "will finally happen" in 2024. 

If you're like me, one of those things is spreading the joy of Brazilian jiu-jitsu to others, and in particular, to your friends and family. You know that now only will they reap the benefits of jiu-jitsu - as you have - but you'll finally be able to talk about it with them as much as your heart desires without them rolling their eyes. 

But - as you have likely already found out - getting people to start BJJ is not easy. It's hard enough getting them to try a new restaurant or a new hair style... something that doesn't involve sweaty people trying to smash and choke them out. But never fear, this year will be different, because we're here to help. 

Here are four things to keep in mind when you're trying to get your friends and family to try BJJ for the first time:
