    Scariest Things on the BJJ Mat

    October, the spookiest month of the year. For many, it's a time for cheap thrills in corn mazes and haunted houses, binge watching decades of terrible horror films, scrambling for last minute costume ideas - many of which are "sexy" versions of very unsexy things - and passing out various forms of sugar to small humans that don't belong to you. 

    But it's also a time in which we can appreciate that there are some scary things that surround us every day of the year. A few of those exist in our very refuge: the BJJ academy.

    As a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athlete who first started as an adult, it's both amazing and absolutely terrifying to see so many young athletes entering the adult divisions. I'm talking about those teenagers that have been training nearly as long as they've been walking.

    One of those young phenoms is Kingz Athlete Sarah Galvão. Recently promoted promoted by her legendary parents, Sarah has closed the chapter on a record-setting juvenile blue belt career, and now has her eyes set on the purple belt adult division.
